What Is a COTC?

A COTC (Certificate of Technical Competence) is a professional qualification that proves the holder is trained and competent to manage a permitted waste site. It's awarded by WAMITAB and covers specific types of waste management activities.

UK environmental law requires every permitted waste site to have a qualified Technically Competent Manager (TCM) responsible for the day-to-day running of the site. The TCM must be appropriately COTC-qualified for the waste activities being carried out.
